Happy Restoration Feedback!

With great anticipation, I recently received back from Matt a beautifully restored and sentimentally valuable violin (bequeathed to me from my late birth mother’s estate).
I cannot begin to outline the meticulous, painstaking work that went into this restoration. The step-by-step photos taken of the process provide me with the best evidence of the challenging task at hand.
Even without a label present inside the instrument, Matt suggested that the violin was of German/Bohemian origin, made around the turn of the 19th century.
With complete trust in Matt’s skill, he was able to transform my violin into a warm sounding instrument of high quality.
I was never able to meet my birth mother—the sound of this violin represents to me the closest I will ever get to hearing her voice.

Merry Christmas!!

Just a short note to wish all of my friends, family and valued customers a warm and heartfelt Christmas. Stay warm. Be safe.

After spending a very long time wrapping a 1/2-size violin (that my opa made for me) and setting up the front room for Eric's big photo shoot, we rustled him out of bed and handed him the violin in front of the camera...

With no real expectation of success, we were amazed with the knowing way in which he held and assessed the instrument. It seems I may have an apprentice in the making!

I will be out of town until the first of January. Please feel free to call or email during that time if you wish to book an appointment for the new year.

cheers,

Matt

London Community Orchestra showcases stellar young talent!!

Last night I attended the London Community Orchestra's Annual Young Soloist's Concert and was treated to spellbindingly beautiful performances!

How amazing to see the professional poise and incredible talent that each of these young women brought to the stage. It was an honour to be there! A huge congratulations to mezzo-soprano Simona Genga, violinist Emily Rutkevich, flutist Joanne Chun and cellist Fiona Robson. BRAVO!!

We are so fortunate in London to have such rich and active musical culture, as evidenced by the calibre of our Community Orchestra and the next generation of young stars.
